On June 17-18, 2025, the BIORADAR consortium met in Hamburg for its semi-annual meeting, hosted by Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. The gathering marked two years of progress and the beginning of the final year of the project.
Funded under the Horizon Europe programme and the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaken, BIORADAR is working to advance sustainability in the bio-based sector. Its core mission is to develop digital tools that integrate environmental, economic, social, and circularity indicators — enabling more informed and responsible decision-making across the value chain.
Key Developments
During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress of all work packages and integrated feedback from the project’s latest review with the European Commission. With development nearing completion, BIORADAR is now entering a critical phase focused on testing, finalisation, and real-world deployment.
One of the key milestones discussed was the initiation of the CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) process. This step will establish a shared standard for BIORADAR’s methodology, enhancing transparency, credibility, and future scalability across the sector.
Final Year Focus: From Concept to Impact
The final year will be dedicated to testing and validating the digital tools in collaboration with end users, finalising the CWA standard, and maximising outreach through our BIORADAR Replication Facility and Massive Open Online Course. With one year to go, the project is moving with momentum toward delivering actionable tools that support a more resilient, circular bio-based economy.
